PERMANENT MAKEUP PRECARE INSTRUCTIONS:
If you wear contact lenses, please bring eyeglasses to all appointments! You must wear eyeglasses for 3 days post procedure for all eyeliner procedures. Then you can wear your contact lenses. Lenses must be clean or new!
If you have ever had (even if years ago) a fever blister, cold sore, shingles or chicken pox, it is recommended you obtain a prescribed antiviral medication from your doctor or dentist. Fever blisters are very common as a side effect of lip tattooing.
EYELINER: Any lash perming or tinting must NOT be done in the 72 hours before the procedure, and not re-applied until 30 days after the procedure. If you wear fake lashes, they must be removed at least 48 hours before the procedure and not re-applied before 45 days after.
EYEBROWS: All brow waxing, tinting, or threading must be stopped one week prior to the procedure.
Please bring sunglasses as you may be light sensitive. It is not a bad idea to have a ride home after an eyeliner procedure if you are light sensitive.
Please do not book an appointment before any major events, like a vacation, social event, or wedding. Remember, tattooing is an art and normally requires at least one touch-up appointment 6-8 weeks following the initial treatment meaning the entire process can take 3-4 months.
Clients may be more sensitive to pain if on their period or during very stressful times in their life, so try to plan accordingly. Lasting Impressions will not provide you with any medications other than topical anesthetic for the procedure. If you feel the need to self medicate, you must have a designated driver to provide you with a ride home.
Avoid the sun and/or tanning bed for one week prior to your procedure. If you have a sunburn the procedure will be not be done.
LATISSE or similar lash treatment products MUST be discontinued at least 7 days prior to any procedure.
All clients must be off Retin A or Renova 30 days prior to all procedures.
Clients must be off Accutane for one year prior to all procedures.
Please avoid any alcohol within 48 hours of all procedures.
Avoid the following for 72 hours prior to all procedures, unless medically needed:
Aspirin or similar products
Alcohol
Niacin and Vitamin E
Gingko Biloba, St Johns Wort or Evening Primrose Oil
If you have any condition that requires you to take antibiotics prior to going to the dentist, the same will be required prior to any tattoo work.
If you are on blood thinning medications then you will need a medical release from your physician to proceed with the procedure.
PERMANENT MAKEUP AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS:
General Aftercare for ALL Procedures
Keep the area clean and moist – If the area is not kept clean you run the risk of infection. Gently clean the area with a mild antibacterial soap (yellow dial) daily. Pat the area dry, do not rub. Apply antibiotic ointment a minimum of three times a day using a clean Q-tip.
New makeup – Please only use new makeup on the procedure area. For example, use new mascara following an eyeliner procedure or new lipstick following a lip procedure. Using old makeup can expose the newly tattooed skin to bacteria which can cause a secondary infection. Do not wear any makeup for 72 hours following your cosmetic procedure (longer for microblading).
Sun or Tanning Beds – UV rays from either the sun or tanning bed will fade all pigment over time; however, new pigment is extremely sensitive to UV rays and will fade rapidly if exposed. Once the area has healed it is vital to always use a good sunblock in order to protect the pigment color.
Pools or Beach – Both chlorine and salt water can fade or alter new pigment colors and should be avoided for a minimum of one week following the procedure (longer for microblading).
Waxing and Chemical Peels – Both waxing and chemical peels remove layers of skin which will cause the pigment to fade. Therefore, these procedures should be avoided in the tattooed area.
Do NOT Pick – The area will scab and flake off. Allow the scabs to come off on their own. If you pick or pull the scabs then you risk losing the pigment and possible scarring.
Skincare – Be aware of your anti-aging skincare products. Most of these products contain some type of acid that will fade and possible even change the color of your pigment over time.
Eye Liner
Eyes may be swollen and tender for a few days. This is normal and will dissipate quickly. Itching is also common. A cold compress such as an ice pack, cold washcloth, or a bag of frozen peas can feel nice. Please do not ice for more than 10 minutes at a time. Icing is most effective within the first 24 hours. Sleeping slightly elevated can also reduce any residual swelling of eyes. The morning after your procedure is when you can expect the most swelling.
It is advised to sleep on an old pillowcase. There will be residual pigment coming off the eyes for several days that can stain linens.
In the morning if eyes are stuck together, use a wet Q-tip and gently separate. Do not rub, peel or pick.
Keep the area clean and only use the aftercare given for 3 to 4 days. Apply once in the morning, once in the afternoon and once in the evening. Use a fresh Q-tip for every application. Do not let the eyeliner become dry in the first 72 hours.
Avoid sun, pools, hot tubs and all creams around eye area. Eyes heal very well; however, they are exposed to the possibility of a secondary infection like conjunctivitis.
If ointment is a problem, please discontinue use and rinse with buffered eyewash and seek medical attention for an antibiotic steroid eye drop.
Eyes are sensitive to pet dander, gardening, dust, or dirty hands. Sunglasses are highly recommended. Please use a new tube of mascara after each procedure. Do not wear makeup for 72 hours after your permanent cosmetic procedure.
Tattooed Eyebrows
Please apply after care ointment supplied or A&D ointment for 7 to 10 days; do not let the brows get dry and crusty. Apply once in the morning, once in the afternoon and once in the evening. Use a fresh Q-tip for every application. Do not let the eyebrows become dry in the first 72 hours. Remember only a thin layer of ointment is needed. Some swelling, redness or itching is normal and to be expected.
It is advised to sleep on an old pillowcase. There will be residual pigment coming off the brows for several days that can stain linens.
Keep clean and avoid sun, pools, direct water pressure. Do not pick, peel, scratch or rub the area.
Brows will oxidize and get darker before they soften in healing. This is normal!
Do not wear any makeup for 72 hours after your cosmetic procedure on brow area.
Wait two weeks to pluck the eyebrow area.
Microbladed Eyebrows
Please apply after care ointment supplied or A&D ointment for 10 to 14 days; do not let the brows get dry and crusty.
Avoid the sun or tanning bed exposure for FOUR WEEKS. Avoid pools, saunas, and steam rooms for THREE WEEKS. Avoid sweat in the eyebrow area for TWO WEEKS. Do not pick, peel, scratch or rub the area.
Brows will oxidize and get darker before they soften in healing. This is normal!
Do not wear any makeup or use skincare products in the eyebrow area for TWO WEEKS following your microblading procedure.
Wait two weeks to pluck the eyebrow area.
Lip Liner & Full Lips
Lips will feel swollen and very dry after your treatment. Apply supplied after care ointment on lips several times a day. This should be done for at least 7 to 10 days after treatment. Do not allow lips to become dry. This may interfere with healed color. During the day if lips feel dry, apply a liberal amount of ointment. Just tap on skin and do not rub in. Always use a clean Q-tip, not fingers, to apply ointment to the lips area. This will reduce the risk of secondary infection.
It is advised to sleep on an old pillowcase. There will be residual pigment coming off the lips for several days that can stain linens.
After lips are no longer tender to the touch they may become flaky. This is normal and is expected. Please do not pick or scratch at them; this may significantly reduce the amount of pigment retained. Avoid the sun and tanning beds before and after the procedure. Be sure to use a sun block once lips are healed. Do not use any Glycolic, Hydroxy or fruit acid products on lips. Avoid direct water pressure, pools and other bodies of water, until healed. It is also a good idea to brush your teeth with just water for 72 hours, post treatment. You can resume wearing lipstick once lips are healed. It is advised to use a new lipstick after all lip treatments.
Redness, swelling, tenderness, dryness are all common post treatment side effects and will dissipate in a short period of time. Avoid alcohol and oily, salty or acidic foods while healing. It is advised you drink from a straw for all beverages.
The lip area is a muscle and will need 1 to 3 sessions to complete the overall process of this procedure. Lips can be very unpredictable. Some clients will yield very strong healed lip color, and others will heal with only slight color uptake. This will vary on an individual basis. Clients with sun damage, scar tissue (from injury or fever blisters) and clients with implants may not have strong results. Hyper pigmentation can happen on any lip client without warning. Fever blisters are a known side effect of all lip procedures. Clients are asked to go to their doctor or dentist for an anti-viral medication prior to any lip procedure, to help avoid an outbreak. Follow all before and after instructions after all lip treatments. Lip retouch must be scheduled 30 to 45 days apart from initial season to help with color retention.
Lips heal in three stages: Too dark, too light, and just right.
This takes one 4-6 weeks to happen. Please avoid any friction to lip area (this includes kissing and such).
Healing Process
Let’s be honest….your new makeup WILL NOT look very pretty in the first week following the procedure. The healing process goes through stages of swelling, redness, possible bruising, scabbing, and discoloration. You makeup will look dark and unnatural. As the area heals it will fade up to 50% and go from a bold glossy finish to a soft natural matte finish.
Although the procedure appears healed within a week, it will not be fully healed for another 4-6 weeks. To ensure color retention and to avoid unnecessary pain, it is important to not re-injure the skin until it has COMPLETELY healed.
FREE TOUCHUP
You are offered one free touch up session on all new procedures. This touchup must be done 45-60 days following the initial procedure. No-shows or cancellations with 48 hours of the appointment will be considered TREATMENT PERFORMED. If you wish to schedule a touchup appointment following a no-show or cancellation without 48 hours’ notice then you will be charged 50% of the original price, due at the time of booking the appointment.
